Homework
Homework will be assigned nightly as needed and is expected to be returned the following day. Students will also be given monthly take home projects. Homework and projects will provide students with independent practice of skills learned in class. Homework counts towards grades for each particular subject.
Uniform
We are a uniform school. Uniforms consist of blue, black or khaki pants and yellow, white or blue shirts. In addition girls can wear either khaki or blue jumpers or skirts. Sweatpants and t-shirts are allowed in the uniform colors on Gym days. During the cooler weather students may wear a vest, sweater or fleece in navy blue. Students are not permitted to wear hooded sweatshirts or sweaters per district policy.
Habits of Work
Habits of work provide a numeric value to our Code of Character and count as 20% of student's quarterly grade. Habits of work are essential for student's success inside as well as outside of the classroom. The main goal of habits of work is to motivate students to be successful in their academic performance as well as to acquire skills that can be applied outside of the classroom.
Food
Brennan-Rogers is a Wellness School, therefore students are not allowed to bring candy or soda into the classroom. Candy and soda will be confiscated by the teacher. In addition please celebrate your child's birthday outside of school. Dr. D and Dr. Clark do not permit birthday celebrations to happen within the school day. Since we are a healthy initiative school, we cannot allow birthday cakes or cupcakes in the classroom.
Toys & Electronics
Toys and electronics are not allowed in the classroom. We are NOT responsible for any toys or electronics that are lost, stolen, or broken so they are much safer kept at home.
If your child has a cell phone, it can be kept on silent and in their backpack during the school day. We are NOT responsible for any lost, stolen, or broken cell phones
Any toy or electronic brought into the classroom or cell phone that becomes a distraction will be taken and a parent will be required to pick it up from school.
